Our client, a previously independent elderly woman, was admitted to a skilled nursing facility following a stroke that left her non-ambulatory and nonverbal. Over the course of her admission, she developed severe contractures and multiple pressure injuries, including a Stage IV sacral ulcer, due to alleged failures in turning, repositioning, hygiene, nutrition, hydration, and wound care. The facility also discontinued her therapy prematurely and failed to resume it in a timely manner, leading to a permanent loss of range of motion. Her condition declined further after multiple hospitalizations for dehydration, malnutrition, and infected wounds. This case settled confidentially for $750,000.00.
