Bed Sores

Our client, a paraplegic man with a history of active independent living, was admitted to a skilled nursing facility for post-surgical rehabilitation following rotator cuff surgery. Prior to admission, he confirmed the facility could meet his specific care needs, particularly an in-bed bowel program to prevent skin breakdown. Despite these assurances, the facility failed to follow his care plan, used inappropriate bowel management methods, and ignored repeated concerns. He developed a serious pressure wound that was mischaracterized and went untreated. After being prematurely discharged, the wound worsened and ultimately required multiple debridements. He now suffers from permanent disfigurement. This case settled confidentially for $620,000.00.
