Our client was an elderly dementia patient in a dementia ward at an RCFE. She was at known risk for choking, and as a result required assistance while eating. Because the facility was understaffed, our client was left alone with food for an extended period of time. She sadly choked and passed away. This case settled confidentially for $410,000.00.
