Our client, an 85-year-old man with dementia and diabetes, was admitted to a residential care facility for the elderly. Despite his known fall risk and physician-recommended interventions, the facility failed to implement appropriate safety measures. He suffered four falls in just over a month, each causing further physical decline. He also developed a pressure wound, severe malnutrition, dehydration, and urinary retention—all of which went untreated or were inadequately managed. He was hospitalized in critical condition and died shortly after being discharged to hospice. This case settled confidentially for $900,000.00.
